Beauty be dammed - Hetch Hetchy inspires

Bring Your Old Pills to any SF Police Station on April 30th!

Do you have old or expired pills/medications piling up?

Bring them to any San Francisco Police Station on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 10am to 2pm for safe disposal.

Please don't throw pills/medicine away in the toilet or trash! They can end up in the Bay or ocean.

Not accepted: liquids (call 415-330-1405 for a mail-in envelope), needles (get free sharps containers at Walgreens) or Illegal drugs.

All other medications and pills are accepted.

HUNTERS POINT RESERVOIR SEISMIC UPGRADE PROJECT

As part of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Water System Improvement Program, the Hunters Point Reservoir Rehabilitation and Seismic Upgrade Project will improve the seismic reliability of this reservoir and ensures the continual delivery of high quality drinking water to the Hunters Point neighborhood.

Construction will occur near Whitney Young Circle and Hudson Avenue, mainly inside the reservoir which is one of the main sources of domestic water for residents of the area.

Construction Schedule
Construction on the Hunters Point Reservoir will begin in February 2011 and will end in the winter of 2012.

Work Hours
Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

No construction will occur outside of these posted hours without advanced written notice.

What to Expect
February: Site grading and preparation;construction trailers placed on site.
All construction activities will occur on the existing SFPUC site. There will be
some minor truck traffic and hauling of construction materials on and offsite.

Noise: Residents & businesses can expect noise from the use of construction equipment. Noise will be monitored to ensure compliance with the San Francisco Noise Ordinance.

Then and Now: University Mound Historic Photo Exhibit

The SFPUC’s “Then and Now” photograph exhibit showcasing new and historic images of the University Mound Reservoir was well received at a fall open house. The exhibit showcased historical images of the University Mound Reservoir’s north and south basins taken in the 1930’s and 1950’s alongside current images of the same structures. The reservoir is currently undergoing seismic upgrades as part of the SFPUC’s $4.6 billion Water System Improvement Program.
